Belfair Gardens redefines Memory Care with an intimate state-of-the-art, consumer focused Assisted Living residence designed exclusively for persons with Alzheimer's and Dementia. Belfair Gardens is architecturally detailed to promote independence through visual environmental cues. The unique layout of 23 private suites and comfortable gathering spaces are centered around an innovative indoor "Town Square" with working "Life Skill Shops" available to residents 24-hours per day. These shops (i.e. the General Store and Antique Shop) display interactive vintage and nostalgic items from the resident's past that act as a mental nudge back to remembered skills and interests by stimulating long term memories. The indoor streetscape of the Town Square has live trees, old-fashioned street lamps, vintage sensory based artwork and murals on the walls to create the illusion of looking through windows at additional storefronts. Natural lights pour through sky lights lining the ceilings of the Town Square. Our enclosed courtyard allows residents to safely enjoy the beautiful Bluffton weather, flowering gardens, infinity walking paths, various specialized bird feeders, wind chimes and vegetable and herb gardens. Our intention is that every resident will feel a part of a very special group of people living on Main Street America in the 1940's, allowing them to reminisce and recreate the familiarities of home and happy memories from their yesteryear. From floor plans and furnishings to activities and programming, Belfair Gardens has been carefully designed to provide a stimulating, yet manageable living space.

At Belfair Gardens, we honor our residents shared needs while keeping a strong commitment to listening, observing and individually assessing our residents in order to change our individualized approach to care as a resident’s care needs change. Our program has been medically proven to increase a sense of ease for residents and help create happy, comfortable memories while minimizing the use of medication. One of the main components is our understanding and unconditional respect of our resident’s need to be included as an active participant in life. Through sensory programming, we are able to generate familiar long-term memories from the past and utilize them for the benefit of others by giving residents a sense of value, importance and belonging by encouraging them to pass on information, wisdom and life skills the long-term memories bring about.
