Bloomfield Senior Living presently owns and operates a diversified, growing portfolio of senior living communities in select markets throughout the United States. We offer a wide continuum of Lifestyle Options including Independent Living, Independent Living Plus, Assisted Living, Alzheimer's & Dementia Care and Respite Care throughout our communities. The principals of Bloomfield Senior Living have also separately owned and operated Skilled Nursing and Psychiatric / Mental Health Rehabilitation facilities. Multiple generations of the family are intimately involved in daily operations making sure each community is the premier option for senior living and the values and traditions created more than 40 years ago, coupled with new advances in the industry, are carried forward. The twin themes of family and generations permeate every aspect of Bloomfield Senior Living’s identity.
While other senior living providers concentrated on being the largest, our family focused on being the best. Our strong and long-standing professional relationships, reputation, resident satisfaction, high standards of care and revolutionized health care programs have become the hallmarks of our success over the course of 4 decades. With this philosophy and a conservative rate of growth, we have consistently maintained high occupancy rates. Additionally, we own our properties virtually debt free and without partners or investors. Our unique approach, while atypical in this industry, ensures residents move into our communities with complete confidence that excellent care and services will be delivered now and in the future, and we have the ability to re-invest back into the communities instead of focusing upon short-term investor returns. With no bureaucratic processes like a large company, decision makers can be reached immediately and decisions made expeditiously.
Bloomfield Senior Living's services are administered by its specially trained and highly qualified staff. Our team members are carefully screened and receive rigorous training. Although everyone is unique, one common theme throughout all Bloomfield Senior Living communities is each team member has a big heart and is dedicated to serving seniors.
The Ruth Tischler Story: Only The Best For Grandma. The Inspiration Behind Bloomfield Senior Living

An article appeared on the front page of a newspaper titled “Search For Ruth’s New Home Aids Grandchildren in New Venture: Only The Best For Their Grandmother.”
It opened: “some may wonder why grandchildren purchased a portfolio of Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care communities. But, it makes perfect sense.” The article continued: “when their 89-year old grandmother’s health declined, the closely-knit family confronted the impossible dilemma of where she should live. This should have been easy for their family since they have been in the business of caring for seniors for over 40 years.”
It was anything but easy. Her Alzheimer's was progressing. We knew – far too well - what that meant. Her body had already begun deteriorating and we witnessed, first-hand, symptoms that began ravaging her mind and robbing her short-term memories.
“We were a happy family,” she said with a smile. “What a life my husband Richard and I built.” While we visited with her over the last few years of her life, she could sit this way for hours, drifting through memories that are far from today. Age-related dementia can take a person far from the present. And when she would sit and drift into her faraway place, we knew just what to do.
We would go back with her to 1948. To 1950. To 1976. The years she became a wife, a mother and a grandmother. We knew the most important years in her life. We knew that going back with her to these years would bring back good memories. Memories that almost always included her husband, Richard Tischler.
97 years old today (still actively involved in our business and stronger than ever), Richard grew up poor. She would tell us about his upbringing and how he started in business. How he was raised in a tenement in Brooklyn. How he started as an accountant only later in life to start in the nursing home business seeing Medicare and Medicaid on the horizon. How he built a chain of nursing homes and worked day-in and day-out to make it a success. How his depression-era mentality would shape his business philosophy of no debt, no investors and no partners.
Sharing these stories, she would proudly say: “Richard and I started all this.” She remembered. That’s when she almost always asks, “do you suppose there’ll be pie after dinner tonight?” Welcome back to today, Ruth.
Unfortunately, she finally lost her long battle. While her sickness may have stripped her short-term memory, it was never successful in taking her wonderful long-term memories.
The newspaper article was correct: “It makes perfect sense.” Ruth’s sickness, and our personal mission to the find the right home for her, was the impetus to the third generation joining Bloomfield Senior Living and our family’s newly shifted focus from Skilled Nursing to Independent Living, Independent Living Plus, Assisted Living and Alzheimer's & Dementia Care, the same Lifestyle Options Ruth required. A more modern, lifestyle approach to healthcare. Dedicated to Ruth’s memory, Bloomfield Senior Living is our tribute to her. We saw what was out there and wanted to do things differently. Ruth also helped us create a unique Memory Care program that could help a lot of people by taking them back to the “good ol days.”
Bloomfield Senior Living is a professional mission with personal undertones. Our approach is different than other senior living options and Bloomfield Senior Living’s commitment to family shines through in everything we do. Our communities are family owned and operated and they feel like it. Family is part of our DNA. At the heart of our mission, values and culture is Ruth Tischler, inspiring us to serve others and improve lives by caring for residents like they are family.
